T h e   a b i l i t y / / to live sustainably in your personal life and as a small business owner is intense and has to be done with intention. We recognize that every individual has the capability to influence.

Fashion is one of the biggest and most polluting industries in the world. and being sustainable in commerce takes many steps.  The research and devotion are real if you want to do it right.  We are working with Intention, studying the industry, and getting down to business to make sure we have every nook and cranny of our product properly sourced and checked for the correct systems and practices, so you can shop for the little ones in your life with ease.

The good thing is that the younger generation is engaged. They care, they read and they are ready to contribute . . . start them off on the right path.

OUR COMMITMENT

2 years ago we began to change what materials we consider to be sustainably better, not just for our planet, but also for the children who wear our clothes. For us better products are made in a minimum of 80% sustainably better materials; organic, recycled, up-cycled, and Tencel™ lyocell.

We aim to be as conscious about the materials we use for our packaging as we are with our fashion collections, and are constantly looking for innovative ways to minimize our use of single use and virgin plastic and paper.

COTTON

Our organic materials include cotton, and to date 70% of the cottons we use are GOTS-certified.  Organic cotton farming does not allow the use of toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and supports the health of soils, ecosystems and people by using natural processes instead of artificial inputs. It combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the environment and promote a good quality of life for everyone involved.

Don’t forget that when you buy garments made in GOTS-certified organic cotton you’re investing in water conservation, better soil, cleaner air and farmers living standards. Therefore the price is sometimes, but not always, higher. However, with demand on the rise more choices will become available.

TENCEL™ lyocell.

Lyocell is a pioneer in the sustainable textiles industry, known as a more sustainable version of viscose. Lyocell is derived from forested wood (mainly eucalyptus trees), and an overall majority of our Lyocell is sourced from sustainable forestry (FSC-certified - which guarantees responsible felling and replanting of the trees).

The production of TENCEL™ lyocell has a lower impact on mother earth than cotton and other fabrics. There’s less water usage, it’s biodegradable, almost no chemicals leaked into nature, less land needed, and less waste. Presented with these facts the choice was easy, and we hope that you now see the environmental benefits too.

UPCYCLED

We use leftover waste materials from previous productions to create new products with new life and value. This process creates a lesser impact on natural resources, both from reusing what would otherwise have gone to waste.

Our first step in this mission has been to replace all the filling in our Lovey's with fabric scraps. Collected, washed and shredded from our workroom and from some of our favourite local brands that have generously donated their scraps,  our journey to keeping our products and materials in use is well on its way.
